Velvet Visits Mylo

This one is a story about belonging that both children and grown-ups can relate to.

Velvet is a caribou. And caribou travel. That’s just what they do, following the seasons with their herd across vast, open land, always moving, rarely staying.

Velvet has seen a lot of places. But she’s never quite sure any of them are hers.

That question, where do I belong?, follows her everywhere she goes. Through every new forest. Every unfamiliar meadow. Every place that feels almost like home but not quite.

And then she arrives in Mylo’s corner of the world.

A one-of-a-kind green moose calf who doesn’t ask where she’s been or how long she’s staying. He just shows up with kindness, a lakeside picnic, and a whole group of friends who know exactly what it feels like to be a little different.

I wrote this book for every child who knows what it feels like to keep moving. The one who’s changed schools more than once. The one who makes a friend and then has to say goodbye too soon. The one who wonders if there’s a place out there that’s actually theirs.

There is. And sometimes it only takes one afternoon to find it.
